Brr! has landed.
My fat quarter bundle came from the Village Haberdashery. I recommend them specially b/c they keep you updated superbly when you pre-order and have to wait. (Or forget you ordered it!) Sadly, the ice flowers print was sold out before it reached them. I may try to acquire some to complete my pack.
Also, look, even the packaging matches! 🙂
These little packs of delight dropped through the letter box earlier today. Green Fairy Quilts picked some up in the Sample Spree, and I blew the treats fund! Think I’m just going to admire them a while. 🙂
Iun d’ches quat’ matîns, as manman expresses it. Had to be up ridiculously early to see S away to the London train (on my day off too!) so I came to check the internets. I was looking for ‘Spa’ by Deb Strain, but was distracted by the shiny—French General has a new group for release sept. (That expression makes me smile–almost it sounds like fabrics are wild things that must be rounded up and coralled for safe keeping. Although, isn’t that what we quilters do? Chase them down, fetch them home, and love/care for them?) Where I was? Oh yes.
French General’s new fabrics. Is called ‘Chateau Rouge’. Now, is no secret that red, j’adore, so this is must-see. Oh. MY!!!
(These images are borrowed from the PDF freely available on the Moda website, and no infringement is intended. I just want to pet, and admire. 🙂 And share the love. Call it free advertising. 😉 )
The Chateau Rouge collection was inspired by an old brick chateau we stayed in one summer in a small town, just north of Aix-en-Provence, called St. Remy. The chateau was built in 1789 and throughout the house were armoires that were brimming with old French textiles. I spent days looking through each of the armoires and sketching ideas and color combinations. Outside each window was a field of sunflowers – their brightness seemed to light up the house. The subtle mustard yellows mixed with the old reds – reminds me of the colors at the chateau and my summer in France.

You see the pearl print with the small blue arrow? J’ADORE!! I admired the pale/neutral quilts I saw occasionally at Spring Quilt market, around various blogs, and am thinking I should like one. I guess a few reds will sneak into the basket as well, come septembre. 🙂 My treats fund should be looking healthier by then. Fingers cross!
Now to scamper away for breakfast.
Was awake early so got up to do some quilting and have yet to make it to Nina (my lovely Bernina). Oups! I am not, as I have said in the past, a great one for books, but this I found blog-hopping, and, oh. my…
Check out that top row of quilts. Especially Nr 7, counting from the left.
Also, and I don’t know why, but am fascinated with her Nightshade collection. The colors are so outside my usual preference, I can not explain it. Maybe a touch Steampunk?
Off to quilt!
